Making Cutscenes

The game is getting so close to completion and we're in the final testing and polishing phase. This is a half finished part of the cut scenes that are unlocked by the player after successfully completing a "boss" level. It's probably the most depressing story ever:

Cut 1

There once was a boy named Pepe whose parents enjoyed the finer things in life...
Pepe's Mother: "Pepe! Check out this jacket I got for your father!"
Pepe: "It's beautiful, we must be rich!"
Pepe's Mother: "Actually..."
Cut to Factory
Mr Enojado: "Time to sew off your mami's debt"

Cut 2
Pepe worked very hard indeed and Mr. Enojado had a surprise for him...
Mr. Enojado "You are horrible at sewing. Maybe I can get back my money with you on hoodies."
Pepe: "Yes sir..."

Cut 3
Mr. Enojado had called Pepe to his office and he was very pleased..
Mr. Enojado: "This looks better than horrible, I'm promoting you to management!"
Pepe: "Really? I'm so happy!"
Mr. Enojado: "Good now you get to work 21 hours a day!"

Cut 4
The day came where Pepe had a question for Mr. Enojado...
Pepe: ""Sir is it bad that I can't feel the right side of my body"
Mr Enojado: "Just the right side!? You must not be working enough!"
Mr EnoJado: "When I was your age we were all numb if we did our jobs right you lazy boy!"

Cut 5
No idea what goes here.

Cut 6
A mysterious fire had erupted in the factory and Mr Enojado's tortured screams could be heard through out the land, the door however was open and all of the workers long since cleared out, but what has happened to Pepe? That is a story for another day...

Sweatshop Superstar Main Menu

I'm on the fence about the white stroke, it's almost like the text is getting lost in the buttons. So then I tried lightening the font:

Sweatshop Superstar: Sewing Awesomeness

Making some sewing machine awesomeness. Needle extra bright so the player focuses there. I'm debating adding highlights if there's still time.

Sweatshop Superstar: Making the sewing machine

Wander Interface Mock Up

More fun making game interfaces. The narrative of this one is being trapped in a collapsed mine and having to fend off increasing loneliness so I tried to capture that in the interface. It's also got the throwback 8-bit graphics which is perfect for a game like this because of how quickly we can churn out tons of tile sets and objects.

War Unicorn Logo

Just did this logo for my new company: War Unicorn

The New Heavy

Last Boss in the trailer. He's connected to that giant metal ball which he'll drag around as he runs. In terms of height the ball is as big as Ozzy. Massive = better.

Then I toyed with it a little bit just to play with sizes and this is a biiiit more what I'm looking for anyway time to stop fucking with it I have a trailer to make:

Mosh Pit Trailer Boss

So I need a Boss at the end of the Mosh Pit trailer. First rough sketch of something, I don't like it yet.

He just looks like a big clown, I need to make him more part of the metal environment. Maybe he could be a captured mosher twisted and transformed for evil?

I also reeeeeeaaaaaally hate those hand things they need to go.

This is a bit more like it but not quite there yet. Since the mask is cracked on my right the barcode should be on my left.

Ok maybe the mask isn't so hot. Number 2 seems like the one to go. Possibly with this one's circle eyes.

Operating Under the Influenza

Here it is the interface I've been working on for the game Operating Under the Infleunza. It's features include:

  • A window that contains 4 states so the player knows what his workforce's health is.
  • Toggle-able buttons on the desk in order to make choices for the next turn.
  • The ability to mouse over the window and gain access to specific employee health.
  • An updating website on the computer to show disease trends.
  • The ability to change the wall colors and name above the exit door depending on the company.

The goal with this was to make it seem as if the player is managing people so I wanted to make it look as much like an office as possible while still making sure everything looked like it could be interacted with.
